Songs
I Was Made For You - Rivers Cuomo from the Album "Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo" (2007)
Hidden gems locked away for so long be the adorably geeky Weezer frontman, Rivers, have finally been released to the general public. Demos of Buddy Holly (Weezer [The Blue Album]) and a song called "Who You Callin Bitch?" are enough to convince anyone to listen to this album. This just so happens to be my favorite track of the bunch. Hopefully will hold everyone over until April 22.....
Boyz - M.I.A. from the Album "Kala" (2007)
Sri Lankan born, raised in Britain, and marching to the beat of her own drum machine, M.I.A. is the technicolor gem in the crown of hip hop, one of the few successful female artists of our generation, I can pretty much bet she establsihed a whole new genre with her mix of gunshots, cash registers, sea lion barks, and Kid Pix worthy animation.
Buttons - Sia from the Album "Some People Have Real Problems" (2008)
The song itself has been bouncing around the viral whirlpool that is YouTube, with a wacky video displaying just how many of the marbles Sia really has lost. Stark Contrast to the obviously deep "Breathe Me" that helped cap off the Six Feet Under series finale, this song is still deep, but in a less obvious way.
The Police and the Private - Metric from the Album "Live It Out" (2005)
Weird song. Doesn't make that much sense to me. But there is something haunting about it, and I had it on repeat when I was reading the seventh Harry Potter book, so I guess I "heard what I wanted to hear" when I was listening, because it reminds me alot of that book.
Shadowplay - The Killers from the EP "Sawdust" (2007), covering Joy Division from their album, "Unknown Pleasures" (1979)
An AMAZING cover. It does Joy Divisions original justice, but takes enough creative liscence to make it fresh. The Killers have certainly matured, and Brandon Flowers is able to put seemingly muted emotion into this song, similar to that evoked by Joy Divisions late lead singer, Ian Curtis.
Foundations - Kate Nash from the album "Made of Bricks" (2008)
Heavy british accent. Swearing. Trainers. All ingrediants that make a song that is just as brilliant as it is cheeky.
How Soon It Is - Morrissey
just listen.
PS. Change hxxp to http in the links
PPS. I purchased Foundations and Shadowplay, so I can't upload them. I recommend you purchase them as well!!

OFFICIAL SUMMER SOUNDTRACK: JIMMY EAT WORLD - BLEED AMERICAN (AKA: JIMMY EAT WORLD [they renamed it after 9/11]) it may be from 2001, but it is still a classic! The Middle is most def. not even their best song. Its a pity thats the only song they play on the radio...
Hello to all my friends out there in candy land! I have not LJ'd in a while. Lets pretend I gave it up for lent.
I have been listeneing to lots a music lately, so I will go ahead and fill you in on some jams I think are sweet. Enjoy!
Amy Winehouse-Rehab I find this song hilarious. In fact, to me, it is probably alot funnier than it is meant to be. But seriously, who sings a song about being an alcoholic and refusing treatment? Amy Winehouse, thats who! I think its becuase she herself has alcoholc in her name, so by default, she enjoys it. In large amounts. Becuase she herself is often under the influence. I havent listened to the whole cd, but this is a great way for her to make herself know across the pond!
David Bowie In General Dude. It's David Bowie. My two favorite songs are lets dance and fame. He is weird in like a really cool mysterious way. And then there was Ziggy Stardust. He also had a cameo in Zoolander and has killer fashion sense, so I wouldnt question him.
Tears For Fears-Mad World This song is covered by Gary Jules in the amazing movie Donnie Darko. I like this version becuase it s the original and very different from the remake, although I do enjoy the cover aswell.
80's Songs from Donnie Darko Pretty much one of the greatest mixes of 80's songs from one of the greatest movies. None of the songs were available collectively on a soundtrack to the film due to licensing issues. Songs Include; The Killing Moon-Echo and the Bunnymen; Head Over Heels-Tears for Fears; Notorious-Duran Duran; Under the Milky Way-The Church; Love Will Tear Us Apart-Joy Division (my all time favorite song)
Forever Thursday-How Can It Be The song from that JC Penny add. I really like it. It is plain and simple but still so pretty.
Bright Eyes-Four Winds I saw an add for the CD last night on MTV2! I really like this song. Bright Eyes is a nice group. Thanks to LG for introducing me bc now i have like 5 cds.
Klaxons-Golden Skans The ooo's in the backround are really what drew me to this song. I think I listened to it on repeat for like 3 and a half hours the other night. They also cover Justin Timberlake, which I guess is pretty funny.
Neutral Milk Hotel-King of Carrot Flowers Pts 2 & 3 I love you Jesus Christ. This whole album is really good. I started listening to NMH and Wilco bc, uh, it was in Jim Halperts Celebrity Playlist on iTunes, but these albums are genuinely good.
Oh, yeah! Two great things for the summer:
1. The Beastie Boys are releasing their new album! They be rocin this party 8 days a week.
2. The White Stripes are also releasing a new Cd this summer! June 19, to be exact, and the album is called Icky Thump. Infact, I will leave you, until next time, with the cover art! Tata for now!
